Always known to be one of the first in India to start anything new, the Prasad Group can be relied on to unhesitatingly install and make good use of any technology that appears on the international scene. Ten minutes with Sai Prasad should be enough to convince anyone of the fact that the future of Prasad lies in its orientation towards state-of-the-art technology...
RI : Why would you consider the Prasad Group unique in the industry?
SP : Prasad is a one-stop shop for film. There are lots of good people specialising in various areas, but at Prasad, you have it all under one roof. We try to be good at whatever we offer. Our lab, optical facilities and audio duplication plant are the best in the country. We are known to be amongst the first few people to try anything new.
RI : What is Prasad currently focussing on?
SP : We are repositioning ourselves in the market by getting rid of obsolete equipment and sharpening people skills. Our telecine facilities will soon be the best in the country. We will also soon become a one-stop shop for television as well. Technology has given us a lot more opportunities today and we must take part in some form.
RI : Where do you see Prasad in the next five years?
SP : We will come full circle in the next few years. We started out as a production company and then moved to services. Our focus for the future is to move away from services and back to content production. Our first large TV project starts in November 1999. By 2005, at least 75 per cent of our work will be our own productions. We also have an e-commerce project coming up which will bring audio and video to the Internet.
