"Academy, Cinemascope, 70mm, Imax, Circarama, 3D or any special venue format in film/video - it is so simple to attach DTS to it.

That it is what one can call Magic. And DTS will reproduce the wisp of a feather and the boom of a cannon with equal faithfulness. Simply Magical!!!"

The Magic of DTS All About DTS

A scene from Titanic
"This moment exemplifies the subtle power of sound and how through the digital technology of DTS, it truly shines. Because after all, Rose, like most of us, realizes that sometimes the most terrifying sound is no sound at all."
Jon Landau - Producer of Titanic
DTS treats audiences with the ultimate cinema experience. The frequency range of DTS and its dynamic range from the softest sound to the loudest already surpasses what the human ear can perceive.

Finally, directors have a theatrical sound system that offers audiences a chance to hear the softest whisper and the loudest explosion - real and life-like.

Big Sound. Big Advantage
While most digital film sound formats store highly compressed digital audio data directly on the film (thus affecting sound quality), DTS stores the motion picture digital sound track on state-of-the-art computer media. This affords a data capacity and reliability factor that simply cannot be matched by other digital formats. As CD-ROM discs can hold a large amount of data, the DTS digital sound data is only compressed by a fixed mild ratio of 1:4. The data for different channels is also maintained discretely in DTS unlike other formats that combine all the channels into a common pool of data.

Audio soundtrack stored on a CDROMWith DTS, the sound is full-bodied even on the surround channels. This is because of the ingenious design of the DTS system which takes the low frequency information from the surround channels and adds it to the sub-woofer channel. Thus, in DTS, the surround channels can also be treated as full range channels just like the stage channels with no restriction on low frequency content. This simple fact makes a remarkable difference to the perception of the sound in the theatre. Explosions coming out of the surround channels can have all the punch that you want without distorting or damaging the speakers in the theatre.

The Choice of Hollywood
Most top Hollywood studios have chosen DTS for their films. Universal, MGM, United Artists, Warner, Dreamworks and Paramount have committed all their films to DTS and Fox, Sony Pictures and Disney do all their major releases in DTS. This makes DTS a very popular format indeed.
Chota Chetan - DTS makes the differenceDTS makes the difference!
My Dear Kuttichathan (Chota Chetan), the Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi super-hit of thirteen years ago made waves again recently. In its re-release, the film had a few new sequences, some excellent computer graphics and an all new DTS digital sound track. The new film was released in a phased manner across Kerala, almost exclusively in DTS theatres. It became the highest grossing film in Kerala for the second time!
