Dell and Intel Technologies Showcased with Digidesign at Winter NAMM

At this year's Winter NAMM show, demonstrations at the Digidesign booth will feature Digidesign® Pro Tools® running on Dell PrecisionTM, the world's best selling workstation brand for the past five years.* Demonstrations will showcase two Intel-powered DellTM models recently qualified for use with Pro Tools: the Intel® XeonTM processor -based Dell Precision 670 and the Intel® Pentium® M processor-based M60 mobile workstations.

Dell Precision systems will demonstrate Pro Tools in a wide range of applications including electronic music production, audio post-production, video production with Avid® Pro Tools and Avid Xpress®, large-format mixing on ICON, and recording live shows with VENUE, Digidesign's new live sound product. Intel processor based Dell Precision workstations are now certified to run with Pro Tools on Microsoft® Windows® XP, and offer robust, high-performance systems for digital audio professionals.

"Customers can create, record and produce music with professional results when they combine the high-performance technology in a Dell Precision workstation and industry-leading applications from Digidesign," said Darrel Ward, director, Dell Product Group. "Whether at a live show, in a studio or at home, Dell offers customers powerful solutions customized to meet their audio needs."

"From multi-track recording, through audio mixing and mastering, 64-bit Intel® XeonTM processor-based workstations deliver outstanding performance and reliability. Pro Tools users can benefit from Intel processor-based workstations that offer performance and lower power consumption through innovations such as larger processor cache, faster DDR2 memory, and Demand Based Switching," said Jerry Braun, product line manager in Intel's Enterprise Platforms Group.

Digidesign is also pleased to announce that its development partners are releasing plug-ins for the Microsoft Windows XP version of Pro Tools. "Our Development Partners have achieved nearly complete parity of platform support for Pro Tools plug-ins over the course of 2004, and it has been fantastic to observe," remarks Ed Gray, Digidesign's Director of Partnering Programs. "With outstanding companies like Eventide, McDSP, Massenburg DesignWorks, GRM Tools, Antares and Universal Audio delivering on their commitments to provide Windows versions of their renowned signal-processing algorithms, our customers can work in the realm of Windows-based audio production without want for the best third-party tools."
