Native Instruments presents FM7Digidesign Logo

Native Instruments logoWith the FM7 Native Instruments reawakens the legendary FM synthesis and brings it to a next level. The FM7 goes far beyond just emulating. It adds distortion and filter operators, extensive modulation capabilities, a comprehensive effects section, audio input and much more to the classic FM architecture.

FM7Product Information
In the eighties the vivid and powerful FM sounds had a cult status. Nowadays many musician and producers value the special aesthetics of this sound. The reason for its popularity lies on one hand in the fact that the FM sound perfectly complements the sound of analog and virtual analogue synthesizers On the other hand offers the FM synthesis a massive potential for new and up-to-date sounds.

In order to enjoy the characteristic FM sound one does not have to invest into hardware anymore. The FM7 can read and authentically reproduce the sounds of literary every FM classic. Sounds of synthesizers such as the Dx7,DX7-II, DX11,TX81Z, DX21, DX27, DX100 or TX802 can be played back with the FM7.

The FM7 is not limited to reproduce the sound of the classic. Classic preset can be transformed into something completely new. For example, each of the operators of the FM7 offers many waveforms besides sine. Additionally, a distortion operator with noise and an analog filter operator complement the waveform operators and increase the sonic range of the FM7, far beyond classic FM synthesis. Unlike the classic, FM routing can be set freely. The effect section of the FM7 offers high quality stereo chorus, flanging and delay effects.

Operating the classic FM synthesizers has never been very comfortable. Building and sculpting the desired sounds required a lot of patients and precise FM knowledge. With the FM7 these obstacles and difficulties have been eliminated. The advanced graphical editors of the FM7 offer an intuitive environment to explore FM synthesis. Now the world of FM synthesis can be easily accessed and the enormous sound potential of frequency modulation can be rediscovered.

The FM7 runs on MacintoshTM or WindowsTM, either as stand-alone with MMETM, DirectSoundTM, SoundManagerTM and ASIOTM or as a plug-in with a VSTTM, TM, DirectConnectTMor DXiTM compatible host program.

The FM7 retails for $299,00.
