Edit Pack Option for ProControl Features Surround Panning and More Tactile Control | |
Digidesign has announced the release of Edit Pack, an add-on option for Digidesign's ProControl mixing control surface. Edit Pack features two touch-sensitive motorized joysticks for surround sound panning, a QWERTY keyboard and trackball, 8-channel high resolution metering, and many new, dedicated editing switches allowing "single button" access to common software features within Pro Tools.
Edit Pack's powerful new features compliment current ProControl capabilities, enhancing Pro Tools' ability to deliver a complete integrated multichannel/surround recording, editing, mixing and processing system for audio production. Pro Tools|24 MIX, Edit Pack and ProControl solutions offer an extremely cost effective, yet powerful solution for world-class surround mixing and processing.
Edit Pack is the same size as a standard ProControl Fader Pack, making integration with existing systems straightforward. Edit Pack adds dedicated switches for audio post-production and music-specific Pro Tools editing operations. Two motorized, touch-sensitive joystick panners use Digidesign's patented DigiFader technology, providing extremely high-quality feel and precision surround panning control. Dedicated panner section switches offer access to channel mute, solo, joystick assignment, X/Y divergence and more. LED displays include automation status for panner automation and eight, 40-segment, dual-chroma meters for high-resolution metering of Pro Tools output channel groups.
A "laptop size" QWERTY keyboard is included for data entry and "Command Keys Focus" editing control, as is a large, dedicated Track Ball for navigating within Pro Tools sessions.
Like other members of the ProControl product family, Edit Pack connects to the host CPU via standard 10BaseT Ethernet. This allows units to be shared throughout a production facility.
ProControl and Pro Tools have been used in a number of Billboard chart-topping hits and Grammy-Award nominated releases including Ricky Martin's "Livin' La Vida Loca," and Santana's "Smooth". ProControl users include chart-topping artists Lenny Kravitz, Smashmouth, Moby, Garbage, Filter and more. ProControl is used daily by radio broadcasters such as Z100 in NY and Wise Buddah, program makers for BBC Radio 1. The Golden Palm's Best Film was awarded to Dancer in the Dark (featuring Bjork and Catherine Deneuve) was mixed entirely with ProControl. The control surface can be found in many major audio and post production facilities, including Skywalker Sound (San Francisco), The Farm (London), Zentropa Entertainment (Denmark), Studio Time (France), The Audio Department (New York), Sharpe Sound (Vancouver), Cutter's, Weibe Music and Alien Soundscapes Inc.
