Tempo
...is at the core of all music. Using traditional sample loops requires you to laboriously stretch or tune every loop to fit your current tempo - even before you can audition it against your track. With ALKALI you just set the tempo fader and forget it. Now every loop you audition in ALKALI will INSTANTLY fit the current tempo, without any time-stretching artifacts. It really is as easy as POINT, CLICK and PLAY, regardless of the loop’s original tempo. Alkali syncs to Midi Clock so all you need to do is set the tempo, and start Pro Tools playing. Alkali acts like an extra groove track in your Pro Tools session.

Beat Control
Perfect Tempo is just the beginning of perfect groove. ALKALI lets you ‘Varispeed’ the elements of your loop - so you can even change the key of your baseline, or make a super deep lo-fi version of your favourite jungle loop. Add to this variable QUANTIZE, SWING, loop offset for polyrhythms, chunk reverse and accent, and you will soon be creating dozens of different vibes from just one loop.

REX files
ALKALI works because REX file loops are cut up in to discreet beats, and the tempo-fit simply slides the pieces together or apart. Since there is NO time-stretching, each beat and the overall groove remains TRUE to the original. There are loads of REX libraries available, or why not make your own! Alkali comes with a CD-Rom packed with world-class REX loops from AMG, so you can get started right away.

Pro Tools integration
From day one, ALKALI was designed to integrate with Degidesign's Pro Tools 5.0. Using its Direct Connect plug-in, ALKALI appears as an audio source within PT 5. Set Pro Tools playing, and experiment in ALKALI trying different loops on the fly, in perfect sync with PT 5. When you find what you want, your brand new groove is spotted directly on to a track in Pro Tools. Alkali syncs to Midi Beat Clock coming from Pro Tools and works like a live groove track running alongside Pro Tools. Experiment with different loops, changing loops and parameters on-the-fly without stopping playback. When you are happy, spot that into PT, and move on to the next loop! Pro Tools never needs to stop playback!
